+How does payment work?
Mossen never touches money. The host buys the item with their own card, brings it home, and at pickup each neighbor pays the host their portion via Venmo, Cash App, Zelle — whatever the two of them prefer. The host's preferred handle goes in chat.
+Why doesn't the app handle payments?
In-app payments would mean escrow, KYC checks, and money-transmitter laws state by state. We're a simple operation aiming to connect neighbors, so that's out of scope for now.
+What if the host doesn't actually buy the thing?
They can't mark the share as complete without buying it, and you can rate them poorly afterward, which shows up on their public profile. The friction of looking unreliable to the neighborhood is the enforcement mechanism. If a host repeatedly flakes, report them and we'll review.
+What if a neighbor who joined doesn't show up to pay?
The host can rate them poorly afterward — the rating shows up on their public profile so other hosts know what to expect. If a neighbor keeps no-showing across shares, report them and we'll review.
+Can I cancel after joining a share?
Yes, any time before pickup — open the share and tap Leave share. Your spot frees up immediately for the next person. Doing it last-minute when the host has already bought the item is rude, though, so try to give as much notice as you can.
+What if the price changes after I join?
It can't — once a single neighbor joins, the host can edit other share details (title, pickup, deadline) but the total cost is locked. If the host realizes their listed price was wrong, they have to cancel the share and post a new one.
+How do ratings work?
After a share is marked complete, every participant can rate every other participant 1-5 stars with an optional comment. Average rating + count + recent comments are public on each profile. There's no anonymity — your name shows next to your rating.
+Who can see my profile?
Anyone signed into Mossen. Your display name, avatar, neighborhood, bio, hosted/joined counts, and ratings are all public to fellow members. Your email and any other personal details you didn't put in your profile are not.
+Is my email shared with other neighbors?
No. We use your email only for sending you the sign-in code when you sign in and the notification emails Mossen sends you. Other neighbors only see what you put on your profile.
+How do I report someone or a share?
On any share detail or any profile that isn't yours, there's a Report this share or Report this userbutton toward the bottom. Tell us what happened in a sentence; we'll review.
+Can I edit a share after posting it?
Yes — open your share and tap Edit share. You can edit title, details, pickup, deadline, and spots while the share is still open. Price locks once someone else joins, and once you've marked the share as purchased, the share becomes read-only.
+What's the difference between the two categories?
Warehouse bulk is Costco / Sam's-style household items — paper goods, food packs, that kind of thing. Home & garden bulk is topsoil, mulch, lumber, lawn seed. We may add more categories later, but those two cover most of what people actually want to split.
+Is Mossen available outside Portland?
Not yet. Mossen launched in Portland and we're focused on building density here before opening to other metros. When we do, we'll let people in those areas know.
